Life Enrichment
Our dedicated wellbeing co-ordinators at Haydock will encourage residents to pursue their own hobbies and interests or maybe join in with one of many group activities and try something new. Arts & crafts, reminiscence sessions, bingo and relaxation therapy all prove extremely popular. Regular Resident/Relative meetings are held where activities are discussed and together we can plan forthcoming entertainers, trips, shows and all in house activities. At Haydock we understand everyone is an individual and our activities officers will speak to all residents to assist with their hobbies, interests and spiritual needs.
Live entertainment
From visiting singers to group performances, we have an array of live entertainment on offer, with songs from Theatre and film going back over the decades to pantomime performances, visits from local school choirs and magic shows.
TRIP TO BLACKPOOL
Visiting the much-loved Blackpool is a must for some of our residents. Residents take in the bright light display of the illuminations, not to forget the much-loved fish & chips supper en route.
FLOWER ARRANGING
Research has proven that there are many benefits of flower arranging for older people. As well as enabling residents to be creative and use their imagination, it also encourages use of the fingers and hands and is a great stress reliever, promoting a calm atmosphere. “Flower arranging activity is very popular amongst the residents here, we put on some music, and we all sing along whilst perfecting our arrangements, it really is such fun, we don’t usually stop laughing for the entire time!”
SENSORY BASED ACTIVITY
Anyone living with a dementia can find life confusing and isolating. Handling soft and tactile items can often re-invigorate their memories and can lead to meaningful discussion and returning memories. Bringing in objects that are not normally around, such as sand & seashells are one example. Also, everyday objects can trigger positive emotions and memories.
Hand & foot massages
Skilled, compassionate human touch helps ease physical, emotional and psychosocial distress that leads to behavioural symptoms of dementia. A hand massage, foot massage or simply holding a person has the power to elicit positive, life-affirming feelings and responses. For the person with communication difficulties, touch becomes a language of the human heart and a remembrance of their place in the world.
Seasonal Celebrations
We love to mark the seasons with joyful celebrations that bring everyone together. From Easter fun decorating eggs and enjoying Easter egg hunts, to summer garden parties in the sunshine, there is always something to look forward to.
Autumn brings Halloween fancy dress and spooky fun, while Christmas is filled with festive celebrations, carol singing, and warm seasonal cheer.
Alongside these special occasions, we also host parties just for fun-creating happy moments, shared laughter, and wonderful memories all year round.
